hbathome.co.nz is a hugely successful website launched during the lockdown. It is the brainchild of Alice McKinley, Director of marketing consultancy Kin, donated 160 hours of her team’s time to complete the near impossible task of creating a concept, brand, social channels and website for over 100 hospitality owners and suppliers within the space of just a few days before Alert Level 3 began.
James and Alice knew they needed a simple website that was easy to navigate and visually appealing so that users would want to keep coming back – both to support their local favourites but also to try out some new establishments.
Hawke’s Bay at Home’s social pages went viral overnight and it now has many thousands of followers. Hospitality owners have credited the website with introducing new customers to their businesses.
Thanks to overwhelming support from sponsors, the next stage of the campaign is beginning. It will include a promotional video and exploring further ways to help the hospitality industry through free social media workshops and further campaigns.
