Jambo Hobbies rebrands in lockdown

Christer

Christer Eriksson owns and runs an independent games and hobby store on Station St (formerly Jambo Hobbies). He spent the lockdown working on rebranding the store to "Lovecraft Game Store", setting up a website and preparing for Level 3 contactless sales. As well as selling board games, model and hobby supplies there is also a board game library and they hold small-scale events like model painting evenings which will be up and running in Level 2 with contact tracing.

“During the lockdown period we put the time to use by putting our own spin on the shop, so henceforth we will be known as “Lovecraft Game Store"," says Christer.

“For my re-branding I elected to use only local business for the design and printing of business cards as well as the new signage. I worked with the local digital designer and marketer Amylou Creative (@amyloucreative) that helped me visualize and do the amazing new logo and other digital and print products. One benefit with working with local talent is that when the printers ran into a slight problem with our business cards, Amy could rework the design so that the business cards came out like I wanted to.”

Lovecraft Game Store has a loyal customer base – Christer has had a flood of online orders for pickup since moving into Level 3. There’s also a circular economy here - Christer is a big supporter of Matisse and so has been ordering wines from them for delivery. So by supporting Lovecraft, customers are also supporting other local businesses as the money goes around.
