Napier is home to so many awesome events, from live gigs and sports games to exhibitions and shows. This is your one-stop-shop for what's on in Napier.
This exhibition by Gina Guerin, aptly titled 'Serious Colour Two' is a follow on from her previous exhibition 'Serious Colour.' This show naturally features works on board, paper, and canvas in vivid colours. It also includes a number of smaller works on paper which act as Gina's experimental warmups.
This year Gina has revisited life drawing, including a few of her drawings of charcoal nudes, into the show. Some paintings are finished with a resin coating which accentuates the depth of colour.
Her work appeals to a large range of customers, with a variety of subject matter including nudes, landscapes, and floral work. All are in her signature bright colours, however, Gina does have an appreciation for black, white, and metallic hues. Her style is gestural and loose, with influences from Max Gimblett, Jan Nigro, Gretchen Albrecht, and Dale Frank.
In Gina's 27-year art career, she has worked in many forms of media - from watercolour to acrylic and resin on board. She has sold her work through Hawke's Bay and Auckland Galleries, has participated in many art shows around the country, and sold her work to many overseas collectors. Gina has also been part of the Hawke's Bay Art Guide, and Art Trail. Lately has been selling her work through her Facebook (@ginagueinart) and Instagram (@gina.guerin.art).
