A new theatre company for Napier

Napier City Council's Recovery Projects Fund has granted $40,000 for the creation of a new theatre company. The Napier Theatre Company will establish itself in our CBD with the goal of making the arts financially accessible to all. Rising ticket costs have pushed away those who otherwise would benefit from theatre. The Napier Theatre Company plans to address this imbalance through affordable ticket pricing and providing training and theatre festivals to those who wouldn't otherwise get the opportunity, particularly youth. Being able to comfortably perform in front of hundreds of people breeds confidence. Confidence lends itself to many areas of life – including job interviews, work presentations and public speaking, to name a few. There will be the added benefit of people coming into the central city to watch performances and hopefully support our bars and restaurants either before or after performances!
