“If you’re going to volunteer, give your time to something close to your heart.”
That’s the advice from Reignier Catholic School PTA Chair and mum of three, Kristi Lambert, who has been volunteering at the school since her eldest son started there six years ago!
“I feel lucky to be able to be involved in my children's daily school life. I’ve always helped in some form or another, whether it’s helping with the gala, sports events, raffles, walkathons, sausage sizzles and quiz nights.
“I am a past pupil of Reignier School and I have wonderful memories of fun activities and get togethers provided by my parents’ generation. I wanted my children to have those experiences too.”
As Chair of the Reignier Catholic School PTA, which is called FOR (Friends of Reignier), Kristi is responsible for organising school events to bring the school community together as well as fundraise for additional resources and facilities for the children and their environment.
“The most rewarding thing about volunteering is seeing the children and families enjoy the activities and events we organise, and then provide those extra resources for them and the school.
“Meeting other parents and families is also one of the best parts. Some events take a lot of time and hard work so there’s plenty of time for great friendships to develop!”
