Youthful volunteers help with clean-up effort

Ignite Youth Employment Services supplied

Young people on the Ignite Youth Employment Services course were among those who rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in with the clean-up efforts in Waiohiki and Awatoto.

Led by service founder Chris McIvor, they worked hard to make a positive impact in the Napier community during a difficult time.

They also made sure other volunteers could enjoy delicious lunches, and helped put together grocery packs for displaced families living in emergency accommodation.

Course participants are usually based at the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Academy in Tamatea. Physical activity lies at the heart of the programme, while participants also work on building employability skills, communication skills and resilient mental health.
